About the abuse
At age four, Kimberly confided in her mother after being brutally molested by a neighbor. Her mother silenced her, enabling the abuse to continue and intensify for five years. Kimberly was regularly subjected to molestation that would occasionally impair walking upright, causing extreme pain. She was forced into duffel bags/sleeping bags that were zipped up for long periods of time. Kimberly recalls being folded up in the bed of a sofa bed, struggling to breathe while others sat on top and laughed. Being a child in survival mode, she often hid in neighbor's shrubbery hoping to evade the molester like an animal being hunted. Kimberly also mastered many survival skills that would help her as a child and later need to be unlearned as an adult.
